This option is a lot more strenuous than the first walk though as after a relatively flat walk towards the village of Bendish, it then heads off to the south on a loop of walking along the Chiltern Way as it climbs and descends it's way through the pretty hefty Chiltern Hills. Bramfield woods is great for den building, geo-caching and wild flower spotting theres an incredible display of bluebells in April and May. There is no dedicated car park at Pegsdon Hills but if you take the Apsley End Road off the B655, there is a left turn after about 50 metres into a dead end road. The Cricketers overlooks the green in the village of Sarratt and is a great place to sit with a pint on a sunny day, watching . However, this route also offers a slightly longer venture out into the arable farmland and countryside to the east of Buntingford. From there the path follows the Beane before passing through a field and onto Barleycroft, a small residential road. 1. Upper Lea Valley walk starts near the Luton Airport Parkway by the A1081 and stretches for about 5 miles to Wheathampstead. It flows for nearly 50 miles through Hertfordshire to London. The walk climbs up a mild hill to the north of the village, takes you through the woodland of Park Wood, and then loops back round to descend back down into the village. Basically, you'll still enjoy all of the fun of the Harmergreen Woods, but instead of looping back round to the village, it takes you on the path that we follow on the second walk out towards Welwyn-Garden-City. You'll enjoy a stroll alongside the winding River Ash, lots of open countryside with sweeping views, a walk through the impressive Easneye Wood and a walk around the village of Warerside with it's two lovely pubs. Length: 4.6 mi Est. Difficulty: Easy. If Im walking quickly I can do this walk in about 45 minutes. Note that there are lots of steps at the beginning of the line in Harpenden but if you head to the entrance of the Highfield Oval, there is a step free entrance. It still enjoys the village with it's pretty church, and the lovely circular walk around the Standon Lordship countryside, but this extra loop climbs up the big hill to the south of the village and takes you on a lovely loop of countryside walking with great views to enjoy as you go. Stapleford4 milesThis second route option is a longer circular route for those of you with a bit more time to explore this delightful area of Hertfordshire countryside. Breachwood Green2.75 milesThis first route is a simple short stroll in the arable farmland and countryside to the northwest of Breachwood Green, Hertfordshire. The walk doesn't visit the village of Green End, but instead descends through Graves Wood to take you on a walk along The Old Bourne track and a long the valley. A buggy-friendly kissing gate brings you out south of Ferry Nab and then follow the path to Cockshott Point and back to Bowness Bay.
